Shunsuke to play through pain in National Team friendly 5/04/2010
Nakamura Shunsuke, who was injured in Saturday's loss to Shimizu S-Pulse, seems resolved to play through the pain for the upcoming World Cup warm up against Serbia. Despite advice from Marinos Manager Kimura to rest, Nakamura thinks missing the friendly would be a wasted opportunity and will play if possible. Japan National team manager Okada has said he does not want to worsen the injury but would like to see whether Shunsuke can play through it.

I understand that he wants to be part of the national team and that this game is important for him as he will obviously looking to make a strong case for selection but, I can’t help but worry that we are gonna get back a Shunsuke with a very heavily bruised foot. Obviously Cerezo is out of the question but could the Yamagata game also become jeopardized…?
He’s been told to “Not overdo it” by a slightly disgruntled Coach Kimura but I find it hard to imagine that he will go out and play half-assed. I think overdoing it is a very real concern….
